Sonus Adds New Titles to the Session Border Controllers for Dummies Line

October 22, 2012

For people who are new to the unified communications space, the whole topic can be a bit overwhelming. When dealing with a host of abbreviations from UC to VoIP to SBC, people might feel that they are playing the world’s toughest game of Words with Friends – or they might even feel like dummies. For that reason, Sonus released a book, Session Border Controllers for Dummies, and, based on that book’s success, Sonus has a whole range of “for Dummies” books ready to help people navigate this sometimes confusing space.

Sonus teamed up with the folks from John Wiley & Sons (News - Alert) to publish two more “for Dummies” books on the topics of SIP-based unified communications and session management. The aptly titled, “SIP Trunking for Dummiestalks about how SIP infrastructure can reduce telco expenses by up to 75 percent, while “Session Management for Dummies discusses how SIP infrastructure can help deploy a range of applications from unified communications to video conferencing.

“Most enterprises are familiar with VoIP and probably have begun at least thinking about implementing Unified Communications (UC) – a suite of integrated voice, video, data, and text communications delivered via the VoIP protocol known as Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP)," said the authors in the “For Dummies” books.

The books take readers through the topics step by step, explaining how legacy PBX (News - Alert) systems work and how deploying SIP-bases systems can help bring down costs and improve operational efficiency. The guide truly helps out people who are not aware of the technologies and benefits of UC and SIP – even if they don’t consider themselves “dummies.”
