Infonetics Report Reveals Increased Preference for Sonus SBCs

The latest Infonetics (News - Alert) Research report has revealed that Sonus Session Border Controllers, or SBCs, are one of the budding portfolios on the market. According to the Infonetics report, for the third quarter of 2012, Sonus SBCs have constantly held the top position in the industry in terms of growth starting the first quarter of 2011. The report titled, "Service Provider VoIP and IMS Equipment and Subscribers" was released on November 15, 2012.


According to the report, Sonus has accomplished the largest year-over-year share gains in the SBC market. As compared to the third quarter of 2011, Sonus market share has jumped by 8.1 share points to accomplish a 22 percent market share in the third quarter of 2012. Sonus has also recorded the highest year-over-year SBC growth in terms of revenue. The organization’s revenue has increased by 80 percent as compared to the third quarter of 2011. For the three quarters of 2012, the organization has also held the largest SBC share gain, which is at least five times more than its nearest competitor. The organization has also recorded the highest year-to-date SBC revenue growth compared to the previous years. As compared to 9.3 percent market aggregate growth, Sonus has reported 130 percent growth in 2012 till date.

In a statement, Diane Myers, Principal Analyst, VoIP, UC and IMS, Infonetics Research (News - Alert), said, "Our latest research confirms that Sonus' service provider SBC business continues to outpace overall market growth. The company's focus on delivering SIP-based solutions is paying dividends in the form of strong market momentum and increasing market share."

Protected access to SIP trunking is offered by SBCs, thereby allowing service providers and enterprises to simplify their network design, decrease expenses and successfully implement the latest applications. Customers can offer SIP-enabled applications from the branch office to the central office with Sonus’ unique end-to-end portfolio.
