Session Management's Role as a Delivery Platform

December 07, 2012

There are numerous factors that influence telecommunications in the workforce today. Companies are forced to deal with increasingly mobile workers who want to bring their own devices to the workplace and leverage a number of different business applications. All of these desires and trends can put a tremendous strain on information technology departments, and IT managers are forced to deal with these issues and more.

Companies have to deal with legacy technologies and different vendors that produce different applications that are not designed to work together seamlessly. But even with the implementation of session border controllers to manage sessions at the border, these tasks can be daunting. IT managers have to think about how to extend applications across the overall environment to work with both telephony and desktop software. They need to develop the flexibility to add new apps or build their own. And they need to do all of this while managing security risk and not overspending.

To address these problems, IT managers need to ask themselves many questions. They must consider the changing way that enterprises are forced to look at applications. They must learn more about session management and what to consider when adapting applications to a communications environment. They must think about how to use applications and application sequencing to improve business performance.

For companies that are interested in these and related topics there is good news. Sonus Networks (News - Alert), a leader in the session border controller space, will be holding a free webinar on Tuesday, December 11 at 11:00AM ET. The event, “Insight for 2013: Enabling Apps Across Your Communication Silos,” is intended for CIOs, IT directors, business managers and service providers. The presenters are Justin Hart, director of system architecture at Sonus, and Ingrid Tremblay, senior product manager at Sonus. To learn more about the event or to register, click here.
