Acme Packet Session Border Controller Wins 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award

January 31, 2013

Acme Packet (News - Alert), a provider of session delivery solutions that enable the delivery of next-generation voice, video, data and unified communications services and applications across IP networks, has received 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award from TMC (News - Alert), a global, integrated media company.

The award recognizes Acme Packet's Net-Net 6300 session delivery platform, the new generation session border controller  (SBC) designed to deliver trusted service to even the world’s largest and most advanced interactive IP communications networks.

"The editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY have verified that the Net-Net 6300 displays quality and innovation while providing solutions to real business communications challenges," said Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO, TMC. "I would like to congratulate the team at Acme Packet for their commitment to advancing IP communication technologies."

Launched in October 2012, the Net-Net 6300  is specially designed for the next-generation mobile services such as Voice over Long-term Evolution (VoLTE), Rich Communications Services (RCS/RCS-e), and high definition (HD) video calling, which place unprecedented demands on mobile networks at access and interconnect borders.

The SBC solution combines Net-Net OS software and hardware in a tightly integrated system and delivers throughput, performance, and capacity -- all in a 3U form factor. This architecture enables the Net-Net 6300 to lower service provider capital and operational costs since it reduces power, cooling, cabling, and rack space requirements, according to company officials.

Pat MeLampy, chief technology officer, Acme Packet, said the award recognizes the company’s dedication to continued advancement of the telecommunications industry.

"At Acme Packet, we strive to help our customers, both service providers and enterprises, meet the constant demand for next generation communication services by providing innovative and cutting-edge technology and solutions, and we're grateful that the editors at INTERNET TELEPHONY have recognized this effort."
