CalAmp Unveils CDM-5030

February 12, 2014

Wireless communications solutions provider CalAmp (News - Alert) revealed its newest enterprise data product, the CDM-5030. This product is noted to be a high-speed broadband router and gateway messaging unit ideal to meet the ever-changing needs of fixed and mobile enterprise broadband M2M applications.

CalAmp's CDM-5030 is built for security, speed, reliability and versatility, clarified the company. The CDM-5030 product line features an open Linux operating system, user programmable applications, four power management sleep modes and both high-speed and digital physical interface options. It is noted to offer reliable and secure 3G and 4G network connectivity for 24/7 always-on operation of remote-fixed and mobile machine-to-machine deployments.

"The new CDM-5030 is ideally suited for a wide scope of commercial and industrial uses ranging from SCADA, video surveillance and water/wastewater monitoring to remote traffic management, point of sale and other critical business applications," Greg Gower, senior vice president and general manager of CalAmp's Mobile Resource Management business said in a statement.

"Today's continuous infrastructure monitoring and remote device management require more speed and bandwidth, and the CDM-5030 delivers 24/7 with a reliable, secure broadband connection," Gower added.

The CDM-5030 employs CalAmp's on-board alert engine, PEG (Programmable Event Generation) which monitors external conditions related to time, date, motion, location, geo-zone, input and other event combinations and supports customer-defined, exception-based rules. The device also supports over-the-air downloadable user applications via CalAmp's PULS (Programming, Update and Logistics System) device management platform to enable customers to tailor this product to their specific enterprise applications.

Available in two models, the first outfitted with a single Ethernet 10/100 or RS232 port, and the second equipped with a single RS232 port, the product comes equipped with a client USB port, five inputs and four outputs, and support either 12/24 volt DC or 120/220 AC power installations. The CDM-5030 also supports communication with advanced peripherals including laptops, Mobile Data Terminals, RFID tags and other devices.
