Lync Voice UC Week in Review

It’s the end of a another week, and time to take a look at some of the top Lync Voice UC Contact news stories we’ve been following this past week.

At the start of the week, we learned that SIP communications provider Sonus Networks would be buying back two million shares of its common stock for approximately $7.3 million or $3.63 per share. After the buyback, no two shareholders will hold more than 10 percent of the company. Sonus negotiated the deal with Empire Capital Management, which owns 24.5 million shares pending completion of the deal.


The company also demonstrated even more financial success at the end of the week as it had the biggest revenue gain in the first quarter of 2014 of any Enterprise Session Border Controller vendor, according to a survey by Infonetics (News - Alert) Research, though Cisco remains on top.

StarView Solutions, an Austin, Texas-based VoIP provider, was purchased by One Source (News - Alert), a global voice and  managed services provider. The purchase will give One Source more than 2 billion voice minutes each year as well as more than 14 million peered Direct Inward Dialing (DID) calls. Direct Inward Dialing makes long distance PSTN calls appear to be local, saving a lot of money.

Cloud computing and manage services provider CDW announced that it was partnering with SkyKick, a company specializing in migration, to move customers to Microsoft (News - Alert) Office 365. The two companies will use SkyKick Migration Suite to move small and medium businesses (SMBs) using legacy systems to Office 365 as well as installing solutions such as Microsoft Lync, SharePoint, Exchange and Office Pro Plus.

Pexip, a provider of scalable and distributed video conferencing technology, announced that its Infinity Version 6 platform met U.S. federal government requirements for security. It supports NTP and SNMP Version 3 and can connect to encrypted devices. It also has extra features such as enforcing password complexity and expiration, automatic account creation and deletion and single password access.
